Fix Health Care – Fix the Economy

I spent forty years actively involved in the health care industry and watched it transform from a “free enterprise” environment to one dominated by government programs and the insurance industry. Now we are at a crossroads with health care and if we get it wrong the best health care in the world will be damaged severely. This is an election year and politicians are pandering to us about providing universal (more accurately named socialized) health care for no other reason than to get our vote to keep them in office which translates to power for them.

We currently have a “socialized” retirement plan called Social Security which is scheduled to go broke in the near future. We have socialized, or government education which is graduating young people who cannot balance a checkbook. What makes anyone think the government can run a viable health care program? The effect of such a program on our economy would be devastating, whereas if we embrace a free enterprise or a market driven health care system the economy would roar and everyone would benefit and prosper. One would think that if a business survived thirty plus years it would be a well run and prosperous business, but as we look at the Canadian health care system which has been in existence for thirty plus years we learn it does not work. During the last Canadian elections politicians were running on a platform of “fixing” health care. Let’s be smart enough and honest enough to learn from history.

There is now a book available which tells the truth about the United States health care system entitled “Health Care: It Can Be Fixed” and it is a great resource for people to learn the truth about health care. I lived the experience so the book has virtually no researched information in it. Enjoy and learn!
